18th Feb 2009, was the DAY.

This is my GD/PI experience with IIMB this year. It happened on 18th feb, 2009 at IIMB campus.

GD Topic:
It was about trade barriers and whether labour and environmental standards should be taken care when it comes to trade.
It was a decent discussion. I brought out points about WTO, African and american Corn trade barriers, Chinese toys and India's Ban on it due to lead content, etc. Infact the group of 8 (which is the size this year) fell short of points towards the end.

Interviewers: Mr.Nayak(N)(Economics prof) and Mrs.Chandra(C)(computer science prof, I guess)
Interviewee: VAMSI(V)

N: give me your experience certificate..
(Gave them)
N:Ok Vamsi, Tell me about yourself?
V: Expected question. Had prepared for it.
N:WHat do you do in XYZ?
V: Told him.Used some technical words. (N asked me to clarify and I did).
N: What do you want to do in the long run?
V: Again an expected question, I told him my long term goal!!--- setting up an non profit organisation in the long run!!!! :)
C: Link MBA and NPO?
V: I gave my Y MBA answer...and the good thing is they looked convinced... :) ...
C: You said you were interested and passionate about the work you do at XYZ ...y do you want to shift?...
V: Tried relating my long term goal to MBA and told him, though I work in XYZ , I do spend some time for constructive work towards my goal.
C: How does an NPO adopt a school?
V: Had read about it in some of the background study that I did.Took examples of organisations like NIRMAAn and YSF and how they go about it.
C: What are the various factors that one needs to look for inorder to quantify the impact of work an NPO does in the field of education?
V: Told him about increasing pass percentages, dropping DROPOUT rates, increasing moral and ethical behaviour among students, etc.
N: Suddenly, out of no where...tell me one state where the disparity between female and male litercay rates is huge?
V: (OB!!! I don't know)...Sir, If we consider states like Kerala and Tamil nadu which have better literacy rates than the national average, their disparity between male and female litercay rates should be less. So, we need to consider states which have a litercay rate which is less thn the national average.Like Bihar, orissa....
N:So, you don't know the exact values.. I thought you would be knowing it because you plan to start an NPO in the field of education....
V: Sir, I don't think litercay rates has anything to do with setting up of an NPO in that particular state...because even if you consider bangalore which has so many NPO's, the level of penetration is quite minimal......
C: When do you want to start an NPO?
V: 7-8 years after my MBA.
C: What immediately after MBA?
V:I want to get into client service in the field of Service sector consulting...
C: We don't have companies for that profile...
V: Told most companies like Mckinsey, Arthur D Little have service sector offices which do this...
C: Yes, But anyways they don't recruit for these posts...
V: Once I join one of these companies, I would move to that particular sector...Thats why I require those 7-8 years after my MBA....
(everyone laughs)
N: So, Vamsi it seems like you have planned your carrer well...
V: (Happy)..Yes SIR!!!
N: what other hobbies do you have?
V: Yoga and meditation.....
N: what do you do when you meditate and y do you meditate...
V: Meditation acts as a stress buster..and ...(continued with an answer that was convincing)...
C: so , Vamsi we are done with you...
V: smiles (which meant thank you).....

(Now everything else in the hands of GOD...)

So GUYS!!!!!! What do you think?.........Please pour in your responses..will help me know how i did.....:).....
