wondering!!!

So I decide to write it on Schindler's list. The entire movie is about 186 minutes and Oskar Schindler is caught smoking 14 times in the movie. This is the extent to which u need to watch a movie for the review to be submitted here at IIMB. For the first time in my life , I had to take notes while watching a movie, made sure that the subtitles were in sync and really understood what the people on screen spoke...literally everyword...infact now I can quote few sentences from the movie ..in toto. So the review runs over 1600 words and 6 pages on MS-word with arial font and double spacing. Finally am done with it by 4 30 in the morning on 27th july 2009.
The same day, I get the next assignment. This time its a case analysis. The case runs to 6 pages with tables on net profits, gross margins, accounts payables, and sundry debtors....And this time thank god!! there was a word limit..max 1500 words....i started wondering whether this was really a limit or limit for name sake ....coz no one would be able to touch that...and I was wrong. I looked around. Many of them were infact trying to get it down to 1500 from 15000. this time I was really wondering ...inspite of so many of them..how come there is a dearth in the number of script writers in the country?..or is it that I am the dumbest around...So I call upon my friend to have a FRUITFUL discussion on the case...the discussion runs for 4 hours with snacks and dinner breaks in between. Now I have written down notes worth 4 ages.. Ooops!! pages.
Now,I open the second 'most used software' on campus..MS Word...(first being MS Excel).....I start writing on the basis of the vedas that we had developed..first I do the situational analysis of the case..the case is 6 pages long with 2 tables and and 1 balance sheet...next I had to define the problem...How should I go about this case?...following this was defining the criteria..I should be able to score something...and I start generating the options...should I stick to the conventional way of doing it or should think out of the box?..now I evaluate the options based on my criterion..I need to stick to the conventional way to get some marks...so the desicion that I take..I will analyse the case conventionally for IIMB and unconventionally for my BLOG..and here I am...and this time I am finally done with the case by 4 pm in the evening and my blog by 6pm the same day!!!

PS: Had to write something to relax myself.... Have a test tommorow.

As hectic as it could be...

Thus started my life at IIM-B. With three memorable weeks passing by, I wonder what makes every week so special here. Was it the memorable orientation in the first week or was it the week of club selections in the second? If getting into IIM was a dream come true, getting into a club was a dream much rosier. Why was this? Were people really interested? Were people after Resume-points? The answer could be both. Whatever it is , you get to face some of the toughest competition ever to prove your mettle. Nevertheless, a great experience. One that would last long.
Now into the third week, we have had 2 tests in two consecutive days and we have 3 more lined up for the next week. So what do we do here at IIMB? As a local saying goes, you can do only two out of these three: sleep, study or network. It absolutely depends on the person to choose the two. However both history and stats favor the first two.
Its not only tests and exams that keep people busy. The list is much bigger and includes live term projects, monopoly games, computer assignments, attending seminars, organising fests, etc. You like doing some and you are bound to do the others.
In all...it is as hectic as it could be..and lovable as it could get....

Will be back with more....

Disclaimer: Have been studying economics for some time, hence my english could have suffered.
